Bengaluru: VTU will introduce MTech in quantum computing from this academic year. The university has signed agreements with two companies — QNu Labs and QPiA —that will offer internships to students enrolled in the course.BTech graduates are eligible to enrol in the new MTech course. Preference will be given to those who’ve completed their degree in electronics & communication (EC), computer science (CS) or information technology (IS). Unlike regular MTech courses taught by academic faculty, this course will be taught by industry experts with quantum specialisation. The course will have students learning in classrooms during the first year. In the second year, students will receive hands-on training directly in quantum labs. “In future, quantum will see significant growth. Many jobs will be created in this field, and we want our students to be able to secure those jobs,” said VTU vice-chancellor S Vidyashankar.
