Bengaluru: “You do not recognise your own people. You cannot recognise your caregiver or your spouse or children. That is dementia in its worst form,” said a senior citizen who participated in a dementia simulation and virtual reality booth at Smrithi 2025. The dementia public awareness event was organised by Nightingales Medical Trust Saturday, ahead of World Alzheimer’s Day.More than 400 people, including elders, families and caregivers, gathered at MN Krishna Rao Park in Basavanagudi to express solidarity with those living with dementia. The virtual reality booth created an immersive experience of dementia for the participants and was designed to foster empathy and compassion towards those affected.Brain fitness check-ups were conducted for over 150 elders.
