Madikeri: Kodagu district police arrested a villager on charges of chain snatching at Kallalli, a village on the Kodagu border. A woman lost her gold chain on Oct 23 at Kallalli when a bike-borne individual snatched it away.Police said Adarsh from Dodda Tholur village, under Tholur Shettalli gram panchayat of Somwarpet taluk, was arrested on charges of chain snatching. Parvathamma, from Kallalli village, was walking on the road near her house when the accused, who came on a bike, approached her on the pretext of asking about the Mallalli waterfalls. He allegedly snatched a 25-gram gold chain and fled on the Tambalageri Road.Police visited the spot and examined the CCTV around Bisile and Changadahalli.The accused, who was working as a food supplier in Mangaluru, allegedly committed the crime while he was in his hometown in Kodagu. Investigation revealed that the stolen gold was pawned at a shop in Hassan.
