Mangaluru: A two-wheeler rider died, and the pillion rider sustained injuries in an accident reported near Mukka in Mangaluru Traffic North police station limits. The deceased is Karunakar Eshwar Shetty.In a complaint, Venkatesh said that his elder brother Karunakar, along with his neighbour Vishwanath,16, riding pillion, left their house for Mukka on Sunday evening. While returning towards Chelyaru, near Mukka Junction, as they were moving on NH-66 Mangaluru–Udupi road, a car reportedly driven rashly and negligently by Mohammad Taufiq coming from the Udupi side collided with Karunakar’s scooter.Due to the impact, Karunakar and pillion rider Vishwanath were dragged on the road along with the scooter and further hit a stationary car parked on the roadside. As a result, Karunakar and Vishwanath sustained injuries. They were rushed to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors declared that Karunakar died on the way to hospital, while Vishwanath was admitted for treatment.
