Belagavi: Traffic on Belagavi–Goa highway via Chorla remained at a standstill from late Sunday night to Monday noon after two trucks blocked the stretch between Kalamani and Amte villages, leading to a two-kilometre-long line of vehicles. According to sources, a heavy transport truck broke down in the middle of the highway, obstructing vehicle movement. While another truck attempted to pass from the side, the weakened road caved in, causing it to overturn. This led to long queues of vehicles piling up on both sides. The disruption caused severe inconvenience to school and college students as well as daily commuters. The broken-down truck remained on the road, leaving traffic completely paralysed. Khanapur police succeeded in moving both vehicles by Monday noon.
