Bengaluru: A 45-year-old auto driver and his daughter died on the spot when a rashly driven empty truck rammed into their three-wheeler at Summanahalli Junction, Magadi Road, Saturday morning. The truck also rammed into a private car and then a scooter before coming to a halt.The deceased are Yesu D and Y Jennifer, residents of Herohalli. Yesu was driving with Jennifer in the back. “Jennifer’s marriage was fixed for next month. In connection with the marriage, they were heading towards a church in Hennur when the accident occurred around 740am,” police said.Scooterist Ramesh and four-wheeler owner Vijay Kumar sustained minor injuries. Vijay Kumar, with his pregnant wife and three-year-old son, was heading to a hospital for his wife’s routine check-up. The truck brushed against the front portion of their car. “We were heading to the hospital when I noticed this truck coming aimlessly in our direction. I saw it hit the auto first and then my car before knocking down the scooterist,” Kumar said.The truck driver fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle, police said. “The truck came from Nelamangala and was heading to a godown to load plastic materials. But for some reason, the trip was cancelled, and the vehicle was returning to Nelamangala,” an investigating officer said.
