Mysuru: The department of youth empowerment and sports affairs is upgrading the international swimming pool at Chamundi Vihar Stadium with an advanced tensile roofing system.The Rs 8-crore project, expected to be finished before Dasara, will provide all-weather protection, shielding the pool from both intense sunlight and heavy rainfall, enhancing usability and maintenance.The department has planned to conduct a Dasara swimming competition once the ongoing work is complete. The department constructed the international-level swimming pool on the campus of the stadium after spending Rs 4.9 crore.Now, the department has given it a new look by providing a tensile roofing facility for its swimming pool. The roofing system not only helps keep the water cool, but also prevents swimmers from being affected by ultraviolet rays emanating from the scorching sun.The fabric materials being used for the roofing system withstand all weather, providing protection as they are of durable quality.Assistant director of youth empowerment and sports affairs Bhaskar Nayak said that the tensile roofing works will be completed soon. The department is planning to conduct a Dasara swimming competition.
