Chikkamagaluru: The Congress govt has been undertaking several development activities, but the opposition BJP is targeting the party out of desperation, criticised Bhadra Command Area Development Authority (CADA) chairperson KP Amshumanth on Friday.In the last two-and-a-half-year tenure of the Congress govt, projects worth Rs 2,500 crore were sanctioned for the district. BJP MLC CT Ravi, who cannot tolerate development, is speaking out of desperation, Amshumanth, who is also Chikkamagaluru District Congress Committee president, told reporters.According to him, Rs 2,000 crore was received by beneficiaries of the five guarantees. In addition, a special grant from the chief minister of Rs 250 crore was allotted for the comprehensive development of the district, with Rs 50 crore for each constituency.Listing other projects, he said the govt sanctioned Rs 430 crore for the medical college, Rs 150 crore for constructing power substations, Rs 12 crore for a mother-child hospital in Koppa, Rs 13 crore for a hospital in Jayapura, and Rs 9 crore for a hospital in Lakkavalli in Tarikere taluk.He also mentioned that Rs 37 crore was sanctioned for a 100-bed hospital in Sringeri, and Rs 1.6 crore was approved for 25 buildings at a cost of Rs 65 lakh each for rural health.He also noted that Rs 800 crore was released for a project to fill various lakes in the open areas of the district. A project costing Rs 250 crore was planned to supply drinking water to over 400 villages, including Tarikere, Ajjampura, and Hosadurga.Rs 20 crore for a new bus station in the city, Rs 29.2 crore for constructing the Tarikere bus station, and Rs 6 crore for the Kadur bus station, he said.A total of Rs 7 crore was released for the construction of a synthetic athletic track at the district centenary sports complex, Amshumanth added.
