Udupi: A case was registered against the management of a private English medium school for allegedly producing a fake insurance policy for one of its vehicles and submitting it to both the police station and the court. According to the complaint filed by a manager at an insurance company in Bengaluru, an autorickshaw belonging to the institution was involved in an accident on Nov 25, last year, in Kundapur. Following the incident, Kota police registered a case under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 125(B) (act endangering life) of the BNS. A chargesheet was later submitted to the ACJ and JMFC court, and the trial is ongoing.Meanwhile, in connection with the same accident, an MVC case is under trial before the Kundapur sessions court. In this case, the autorickshaw driver sought compensation of Rs 16 lakh as an insurance settlement. However, during verification, the insurance company found that the insurance policy submitted for the vehicle was fake. Based on this revelation, a fresh case was registered at Kota police station under relevant sections of the BNS against the school management for attempting to defraud the insurance company.
