Mysuru: The Indian Air Force‘s Sarang helicopter display team captivated the audience with their breathtaking aerobatics and precision flying during the Dasara air show held at Banni Mantap Grounds on Saturday.Flying five indigenously-built HAL Dhruv helicopters, the team executed an array of complex manoeuvres, including loops, rolls, inverted flight, and low-level flying. They also formed intricate aerial formations that showcased both skill and discipline. Recognised as one of the world’s premier helicopter display teams, the Sarang contingent once again demonstrated the IAF’s professionalism and excellence in aviation.The crowd responded with thunderous applause, with many spectators spellbound by the 30-minute display. For the IAF, the performance was not just about entertainment, but also about inspiring young Indians to consider careers in the armed forces by highlighting the values of discipline, precision, and courage.The Sarang team has already performed more than 1,200 displays at over 386 venues in India and abroad. Their participation in Mysuru Dasara added a new dimension to the festivities, reinforcing India’s aviation capabilities on a national and global stage.Pallavi, a member of the Sarang team who also anchored the event, expressed her joy after the show. “This was our final display, and we are delighted that the people of Mysuru came together to witness it. We are happy to have made this Dasara even more special,” she said.“Our performance featured 16 manoeuvres over 20–25 minutes, including the Sarang split, heart formation, double arrow cross, and crossover bridge. The Mysuru crowd’s energy was incredible—I was truly amazed to see such a large audience. I am deeply thankful to the people of Mysuru for their overwhelming response. Our contingent has nearly 70 members, and today’s display was carried out after takeoff from Mysuru airport,” Pallavi said.The Sarang team, based in Coimbatore, concluded their Dasara participation on a high note—leaving Mysuru with memories of a truly spectacular air show.Pallavi, the commentator, stole the hearts of Mysureans who appreciated her effort in trying to speak Kannada. Determined to be part of the Dasara celebrations, she made it to the Banni Mantap Grounds to watch the spectacular performance by the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Sarang helicopter display team.Varsha said, “I came to know about the show through Instagram and requested my father to bring me here. I am really thrilled to watch the mind-blowing performance, and I thank the IAF for giving us such a memorable experience.” Her father, Chandrappa, a retired employee of Banumaiah College, said, “For the past 20 years, I have been taking her to various such events, including the torchlight parade. She enjoys them immensely, and her happiness is our happiness. Whenever we come here in a wheelchair, people, including police, extend their help.” Varsha, who completed her diploma in computer science from JSS Polytechnic, continues to inspire with her enthusiasm and zest for life.
