Mysuru: After a gap of nearly four months, the jungle safari started at both the Bandipur and Nagarahole tiger reserves on Sunday. At Bandipur, the first safari was held at 2.30 pm. Authorities informed that tourist enquiries increased following the state govt’s decision on Wednesday to relaunch the safari, which was suspended on Nov 7, 2025, to focus on man-animal conflict in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts, by using the resources for rescue operations.
According to sources in the forest department, the safari started with all precautions. Police forces were deployed near the safari points to ensure that there would not be any untoward incidents.“Online tickets were not available for many tourists on the first day. The response was moderate, as there was uncertainty over the start of the safari. Tourist numbers are expected to increase in the coming days,” said an officer from Nagarahole.
