Udupi: A 57-year-old resident lost Rs 10.7 lakh after unknowingly downloading a malicious APK file sent to him via WhatsApp from two unknown numbers.The complainant, Kamalanabh Bayari S, stated that on Thursday and Friday, he received an APK file on his WhatsApp number from two numbers. When he downloaded the file, a total of Rs 10.7 lakh was debited from his bank account in multiple transactions on Friday. In connection with this, a case was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station under Sections 66(C), 66(D) of the IT Act and Section 318(4) of the BNS.
