Dharwad: Rangayana Dharwad will organise the ‘Rangayana Theatre Festival and an exhibition of Gandhi Bharat Historical Photo Panels” from Jan 2 to 7, to be held every day at 6pm at the Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru Open-Air Theatre in Dharwad.The festival will be inaugurated by Venkataramana Attal, Director of Yaksha Rangayana. S Jahangir, member of Rangasamaja; Ningappa Mudenur, member of the Karnataka Janapada Academy and Kumar Bekkeri, assistant director, department of Kannada & culture, Dharwad, will participate as guests. The schedule of plays is as follows:Jan 2: Somiya SaubhagyaJan 3: Gulamana Swatantrya YatreJan 4: Mahatmara Baravigagi( These plays will be presented by the repertory artistes of Karkala Yaksha Rangayana.).Jan 5: Kandagallarige Namaskara (Part 1)Jan 6: Kandagallarige Namaskara (Part 2)(These plays will be staged by the repertory artistes of Rangayana Dharwad).On Jan 7, the valedictory function will be held. Following this, the play ‘Kaalachakra’ will be staged by the repertory artistes of Kalaburagi Rangayana.Throughout the festival, an exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi and the 1924 Belagavi Congress Session, organised by the Dharwad regional office of the department of information and public relations, will be held daily at the Suvarna Cultural Complex auditorium.Rangayana authorities have appealed to theatre lovers to participate in large numbers.
