Mysuru: Mysuru royal family matriarch Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has said Chamundi Hill belongs to Hindus, and Goddess Chamundeshwari is the family deity of the Yadu dynasty.Describing Chamundi Devi as the religious mother of the dynasty, she stressed the temple follows Hindu rituals and traditions.Speaking to reporters on Saturday, she stated that even if politicians or others make claims, matters will not change as the issue is before the court. The royal family is fighting a case regarding the temple for 70 years, and clarity will come only after the court’s order. She added that though an authority was formed, it is not yet official.Expressing disappointment over the recent developments, Pramoda Devi said she was upset that the temple was being used for politics. In the Dasara inaugural issue, Pramoda Wadiyar said she had no opinion, as it is up to those who were invited and those who got invitations. She clarified that the govt’s Dasara is not part of the royal family’s tradition, while their own Dasara is held privately. The govt celebrates in its own way, which has no connection to the royal household. On Vijayadashami, Pramoda Devi said she does not attend the ambari (golden howdah) procession as she focuses on the family rituals, and only one member of the family represents them there.“Enough politics has already taken place about Dasara celebration, and it should not be continued further,” she added.
