Kalaburagi: A lecturer of the Govt PU college in Afzalpur was booked under the Pocso Act after the father of a girl student filed a complaint against him on Saturday.The lecturer, Rajkumar Kumbar, who was recently transferred to Afzalpur PU College, was accused of sexually harassing a girl student on the morning of New Year’s Day. The lecturer took leave from Friday. Parents of the girl students and the public held an agitation on Saturday at the college premises, demanding the lecturer’s arrest. They demanded that the college should not be opened until then.The principal of the college, Gurulingaiah Salimath, told the media that it was found to be true that the economics lecturer sexually harassed girl students on New Year’s Day, and that he was on leave that day. In this regard, he provided the necessary information to police, he said. He said that a total of 16 girl students gave him letters to take action against the economics lecturer, who allegedly harassed the girl students. The principal gave those letters to police for investigation.Kalaburagi SP Aduru Srinivasulu said a case was registered under the Pocso Act at Afzalpur police station, and that the case would soon be investigated, and that the suspect will be arrested.
