Madikeri: Participants enthusiastically took part in games and cultural programmes during the Gonikoppal Women’s Dasara programme. It was held at the Cauvery Kalavedika High School grounds under the auspices of the Gonikoppal Sri Cauvery Dasara Committee.Women participated in flower arrangement, fireless cooking, mehndi application, tug-of-war, women’s self-produced market, lemon and spoon race, bag race, speed walking, mass dance, mass folk song, and disguise competitions. Women showcased their strength in the tug-of-war.In addition to this, they also participated in cultural programmes and displayed their talent. They demonstrated their skills by applying mehndi and showcased their business acumen by selling products. The women’s bag race competition provided entertainment. Women from various places, including the city, came to encourage them.The office bearers of the Women’s Dasara Committee, who offered prayers at the Umamaheshwari Temple, entered the Dasara ground from the temple premises to the accompaniment of a school children’s band set. The women carrying the ‘kalasha’ with the lamp brought from the temple were part of the inauguration by the president of the Cauvery Dasara Committee, Kullachanda Pramod Ganapathy.Committee president M Manjula, vice-president Kademada Kusuma Joyappa, secretary Sapur Bhanu, treasurer Sunitha, and others participated.
