Mandya: In a remarkable display of alertness and courage, Pandavapura railway station master Abhijit Singh saved the life of a passenger who attempted to board a moving train at the railway station. Though the incident took place on Dec 13, it came into public attention after a video of the dramatic rescue went viral on Friday, drawing widespread appreciation from passengers and railway officials alike.The incident took place when a Bengaluru-bound passenger train from Mysuru was departing Pandavapura station. A 55-year-old passenger, Shivaraju Katteri, a resident of Pandavapura taluk, attempted to board the train despite repeated warnings. Singh noticed the passenger trying to rush towards the moving train and immediately cautioned him not to do so. He even informed the passenger that another train would arrive within half-an-hour, advising him to wait instead of risking his life.Speaking to TOI, Singh said that he was closely monitoring the passenger’s movements. “I warned him not to board the moving train and told him that another train would arrive shortly. But he did not listen. When he slipped while trying to catch the train, I immediately grabbed him and pulled him to safety.” He sincerely requested passengers not to board moving trains and to prioritise safety over haste.The incident serves as a strong reminder to passengers to strictly follow safety norms and avoid boarding or alighting from moving trains, which often lead to tragic accidents.
