Officials directed to prepare for Srikanteshwara Jatra festival

Mysuru: Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan on Monday directed officials to make the necessary preparations for the Srikanteshwara Jatra, scheduled to be held on March 30 in the temple town of Nanjangud.At a preliminary meeting, he instructed officials to ensure basic facilities for devotees, maintain cleanliness, provide drinking water, and arrange additional mobile toilets.

Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy directed the police to deploy more personnel on rathotsava day and permit only a few hundred devotees to pull the chariot, noting that large crowds typically gather around it. He also instructed officials to implement crowd-management and safety measures.The DC further directed CESC officials to remove electricity poles and lines along Car Street before the jatra and reinstall them after the event, while ensuring uninterrupted power supply throughout the celebrations.He also asked officials to verify the fitness of all five temple chariots. Any repairs must be reported to him immediately, and expert-certified fitness certificates for all five chariots must be submitted after inspection.Officials were instructed to fill potholes, level the area around the temple, set up temporary health clinics, and take measures to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.They were also asked to inspect and certify the prasadam prepared by various organisations before distribution to devotees.Additional measures include deploying more boats with expert swimmers in the Kapila River, stationing two fire tenders at the venue, and operating extra buses to Nanjangud from March 29 to April 2.Additional deputy commissioner P Shivaraju was present.
