NY celebrations: Guidelines issued for resorts, homestays in Kodagu

Madikeri: Ahead of New Year celebrations, Kodagu district administration is ensuring that the peak tourist season is incident-free.Nitin Chakki, Madikeri sub-divisional assistant commissioner and deputy director of tourism, issued guidelines to resorts and homestays for New Year celebrations. He asked them to collect details of the visitors, including Aadhaar number, mobile number, and vehicle number of both domestic and foreign visitors. He directed the tourism stakeholders to inform tourists about the opening and closing time of tourist attractions.Meanwhile, the directive specifies that it is mandatory for the owners of homestays to live in the building, discuss with the tourists about their trip, provide appropriate guidance, and inform them about local customs and laws. This ensures that they do not go to remote or deserted areas. It mandates the compulsory installation of a first aid kit, fire extinguisher at the site and preservation of CCTV footage for 45 days.The tourists are also asked not to consume drugs and alcohol at resorts and homestays.
