Dharwad: Eminent senior surgeon Dr Shesharao Rangarao (SR) Koulgud passed away at a private hospital in Dharwad on Thursday. He was 93 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Hailing from Guledgud in Bagalkot district, Dr Koulgud had his early education in Pune and obtained MS degree from Seth GS Medical College, Pune in 1961. He served as a professor of surgery at Karnatak Medical College (Now renamed KMC-RI), Hubballi, medical colleges in Ballari, Mysuru, and SDM Medical College, Dharwad before retiring in 1997. Post-retirement he was had started private practice and was a visiting surgeon at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Dharwad. Apart from medical profession, Dr Koulgud was actively involved in spiritual activities and was the president of Dharwad Taluk Brahman Sabha. The members of medical fraternity and other social and religious organisations visited his residence in Malamaddi and paid their last respects. His last rites were performed on Thursday evening.
