Mysuru: Mysuru is set to get a 40-bed Regional Endocrinology Centre at PKTB premises on KRS Road.With the land transfer and related processes completed, the dept of medical education has initiated steps to establish the facility at a cost of Rs 50 crore.The state govt announced the centre for Mysuru and Kalaburagi in the 2025 budget.The facility will focus on the diagnosis and management of hormone-related disorders. It will also treat patients suffering from diabetes, thyroid issues, and metabolic disorders impacting the overall wellbeing of individuals.It will also help to address patients suffering from adrenal disorders, osteoporosis, growth hormone problems, pituitary issues, and reproductive health issues.Dean and director of Mysuru Medical College Research Centre (MMCRI), Dr K R Dakshayini, said the medical education department arranged treatment for people suffering from adrenal and other hormone-related disorders, including diabetes and other related health issues, at the superspecialty hospital on KRS Road. The hospital records 120-150 such patients daily.The new facility will be a 40-bed facility, including 10 ICU beds.The establishment of the centre in Mysuru will not only help local people, but also patients from neighbouring districts of Kodagu, Mandya, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar, she said.
