Mothers urged to instil religious values in children

Haveri: At a commemorative event honouring sculptor Amarashilpi Jakanachari and the release of a new calendar, Vastu expert Rudrappa Kammar emphasised the importance of mothers teaching religious values to children, alongside social and traditional education.Speaking at the event organised by the Haveri District Vishwakarma Employees Welfare Association on Sunday, Kammar stated that instilling awareness of religious values in children is essential for the nation’s progress. “The education we receive in schools and colleges teaches us how to live, but religious values form the foundation of life and impart its greatest lessons,” he added.Lecturer Chamaraj Kammar highlighted the legacy of Amarashilpi Jakanachari, saying the sculptor’s contributions to art would remain immortal as long as the sun and moon exist. He noted that during the Hoysala period, especially under King Vishnuvardhana, temple sculpture reached its zenith. “Vishnuvardhana’s wife, Shantala, was famed as a dance queen, and during this era, Amarashilpi Jakanachari gained renown for his intricate carvings in the temples of Belur and Halebidu,” he remarked.Retired engineer SB Vishwabrahman and entrepreneur Suresh Kammar were the chief guests at the function, which was presided over by district president IS Panchanan.
