Bengaluru: Chitradurga MLA KC Veerendra, who was arrested on Aug 23 by Directorate of Enforcement (ED), was remanded in judicial custody Monday.The ED produced him before the special court for people’s representatives as his custody ended Monday. He has been sent to Bengaluru Central Prison.The ED registered a case against Veerendra and others over cheating the public in illegal online betting. Sleuths conducted searches in multiple locations belonging to the MLA and others in Bengaluru and Challakere on Sept 2. Six high-end vehicles, including two Mercedes Benz cars with VIP registration numbers, were seized.Around Rs 55 crore was frozen, including Rs 40.7 crore in Veerendra’s nine bank accounts and a demat account, and Rs 14.4 crore from 262 mule accounts.
