Mangaluru: Mangaluru taluk has claimed the top position in Karnataka for disposing of applications under the Bhoomi project for Sept, achieving a disposal index (DI) of 5.7 and earning a sigma value of 10. In recognition of this accomplishment, Tahsildar T Ramesh Babu received an appreciation letter.“We topped the state for disposing of applications within the stipulated time frame,” Ramesh Babu said, crediting the collective efforts of the entire team for ensuring timely clearance of all Bhoomi-related files.At the district level, Dakshina Kannada also leads the state, having cleared 10,657 applications with a sigma value of 6.3. Introduced in 2000, the Bhoomi project is Karnataka’s flagship digital land records initiative aimed at replacing manual RTCs with efficient and transparent digital services. The tahsildar noted that the taluk performed well in processing khata mutations and related documents, including sale deeds, pledges, releases, loan details, and other RTC-linked services.The Bhoomi Timely Disposal Ranking (DI) evaluates how efficiently departments deliver services within the prescribed timelines, with higher values indicating faster disposal. Among 240 taluks, Mangaluru secured the top rank. Appreciation letters were issued to both the deputy commissioner and the tahsildar. The achievement was made possible by a coordinated effort involving the tahsildar, deputy tahsildar, revenue inspectors, village accountants, and Bhoomi operators.Ramesh Babu added that the team is now working diligently to retain the top position for the current month as well.
