Mangaluru Police commissionerate recognizes 32 police officers for exemplary services

MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate felicitated police officers and staff for their exemplary services in solving cases, maintaining law and order, and performing their duties efficiently over the past three months. City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy felicitated 32 police officers with certificates of appreciation and 121 police personnel with cash rewards and certificates at a programme organised at the District Parade Grounds on Friday. A total of 32 officers and 140 staff members were honoured on the occasion. The Commissioner said 19 personnel of the Special Action Force were honoured for their contribution towards maintaining law and order in the city. “Over the past three months, the police achieved significant breakthroughs with regard to solving various cases, including the arrests of accused in long-pending cases. Those who were absconding for 27 years in connection with a communal riot case in Mulki were also arrested. The police apprehended 52 absconding accused, against whom non-bailable warrants (NBW) were issued,” he said. While 39 theft cases were solved, stolen properties worth Rs 1.05 crore were recovered. While 37 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, 73 drug peddlers were arrested and 46 are still in judicial custody. The police detained 127 for consumption of drugs and booked 89 cases. Action is being initiated against drug peddlers by gathering intelligence through those who are detained for drug consumption. Through the Cyber and Social Media Vigilance, the police registered cases against those delivering hate speech, sharing fake propaganda, and provocative content on social media and took action against 22 accused, the Commissioner said. Awards were distributed in various categories, including long-pending case detections, tracing absconding accused with NBWs, solving property theft cases, ensuring convictions in court, major case detections, major NDPS (drug) cases, tracking social media offenders, law and order, traffic regulation, and other services including maintaining peace, he added.
