Mangaluru Dasara procession to feature over 60 tableaux

Mangaluru: Thousands of tourists from both domestic and international locations are expected to attend the Dasara festival procession, where various art troupes, musical bands, and devotional groups from across the state will participate, along with over 60 tableaux.Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple treasurer Padmaraj R Poojary said the grand procession of the Mangaluru Dasara festival, renowned as the second largest Dasara celebration in the state, is scheduled for Oct 2. Speaking at a meeting of tableau organisers and police officials held at the Kudroli temple auditorium, he said that the procession must be conducted smoothly in accordance with govt directives.He said most of the arrangements to make the procession more vibrant were already completed. Poojary and temple committee president Jairaj H Somasundaram requested cooperation from people for the successful execution of the procession. Somasundaram said that art troupes from various districts will once again arrive for the grand Mangaluru Dasara procession, with necessary arrangements already in place.“No DJs allowed, procession teams are not permitted to use open jeeps, tableaux must be stationed at designated locations on time, and tableaux will be aligned in the sequence determined by the temple,” he explained.DCP (crime & traffic) K Ravi Shankar said that Mangaluru Dasara is well-known throughout the region, attracting tourists from other districts and states. The department already issued guidelines regarding the Dasara procession, which must be adhered to by all participants. The department will provide full support to ensure the success of the Dasara festival and procession, he assured.ACP of central sub-division Pratap Singh Thorat said that it is mandatory for all vehicles participating in the Dasara procession to carry valid insurance and all necessary documents. Assistant commissioner of police (traffic) Najma Farooqi said traffic diversions will be made wherever required during the procession. Parking will be prohibited along the procession route and arterial roads. Hence, designated vehicle parking areas have been identified at 11 places in the city, she said.
