Kalaburagi: A 65-year-old man was brutally murdered near the Sitanur village bridge in Kalaburagi taluk on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Shivraya Hanmanthaya Malipatil, a resident of Sitanur village.According to police sources, Shivraya was attacked with weapons by Laxmikant Nagendrappa Mang, also from the same village, while returning home from his field. Shivraya died on the spot. Investigations revealed that in 2008, Laxmikant’s father, Nagendra Mang, was murdered, with Shivraya being the main accused in that case. Although Shivraya was later acquitted, Laxmikant had been harbouring a grudge for years and eventually avenged his father’s death after 17 years. Police said the accused, Laxmikant, has been found and will be remanded in judicial custody soon. City police commissioner Sharanappa SD, along with local police officials, inspected the crime scene. A case has been registered at Farhatabad police station.
