Man killed by parents, brother over his addictions

Bagalkot: An incident of parents murdering their son came to light three days after the act, on Monday. The deceased is identified as Anil Parappa Kanatti, 32, a resident of Bidari village in Jamakhandi taluk. His body was found in a burnt condition at a farm in Bidari on Sept 5. Savalagi police registered an unnatural death case and have now cracked the mystery by arresting the victim’s father, Parappa Kanatti, mother Shanta Kanatti, and his brother Basavaraj Kanatti, a soldier with the Indian Army. Referring to the statement of the accused, Savalagi police said that the deceased was addicted to alcohol and online betting. “Anil also obtained loans of Rs 20 lakh, and the parents repaid it. They said he was again demanding money and started a quarrel with them in an inebriated state on the night of Sept 5. His brother Basavaraj, a soldier, tried to convince him. However, Anil started attacking him and the parents with weapons. In response, the parents and brother tied his legs and hands with a rope, poured diesel on him, and burnt him,” they said. However, further investigation will continue, the police stated.
