Mangaluru: Kadaba police on Saturday detained a man for allegedly posting a provocative message on Instagram that incited revenge over a communal murder incident in Dakshina Kannada district. On the Instagram account target_boy900, a message inciting revenge was circulated in connection with a communal hatred-related murder in the district. A case was registered regarding this at Kadaba police station on June 2 under Section 55, 353(2), and 103 of the BNS. During the investigation, police took Mohammad Munavar, a resident of Kasaba Bengre, Mangaluru, into custody for questioning in connection with the case. Further investigation is in progress, police said.Woman loses Rs 1.7L in APK file fraudA woman from Yerlapadi, Karkala, lost Rs 1.7 lakh after clicking on an APK file, which she received on her mobile phone, under the name ‘PM KISAN’. The complainant received a link to download an APK file claiming to be related to the PM Kisan scheme. Upon opening the link, a small amount of Rs 1.3 and Rs 1.03 was initially deducted from her bank account. Later, on Oct 31 and Nov 2, a total of Rs 1.7 lakh was transferred in phases after the accused gained access to the bank details of the complainant through a malicious application. Karkala Town police registered a case under Section 66(D) of the IT Act.Missing girls tracedBrahmavar police succeeded in tracing three girls who were allegedly missing from a Backward Classes Welfare Department Hostel within hours. On Saturday, three underage female students went missing from the hostel. Based on the complaint filed by the hostel warden, a case was registered at Brahmavar police station under Section 137(2) of BNS.Under the leadership of police sub-inspector Ashok Malabagi, officers Siddu Sakanalli and Kiran swiftly gathered information and found the three students near BC Road in Bantwal at 10pm on the same day.
