Mysuru: State agriculture minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Friday praised the contributions of farmers for keeping tradition alive by engaging in the best farm practices and protecting the environment, land, and culture.He spoke after flagging off the colour procession organised as part of Raitha Dasara celebrations at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, adjacent to the north gate of Mysuru Palace in the city. The minister also urged all citizens to protect the farmers of the nation and to stay united.He also said that Dasara celebrations have attracted worldwide attention, with tourists and visitors increasing every year to the Cultural Capital of the state, Mysuru. State sericulture, animal husbandry, and veterinary science minister K Venkatesh encouraged farmers to adopt modern technological applications for best farming practices.A large number of farmers participated in the colourful procession, which passed through the main streets of the city and culminated at the Raitha Dasara venue at JK Grounds. Various folk troupes, such as Nandi Dwaja, Nagari Tamate, Veeragase dance, Veerabhadra Kunitha, Puja Kunitha, Chilipili Gombe, and Naadaswara, also took part in the procession. The display of desi breed cows and oxen like Punganur, Hallikar, Bannur sheep, and bullock cart participation were the highlights of the procession.The Raitha Dasara sub-committee also showcased modern agriculture tools and machines along the procession this year, including nano urea liquid fertiliser application, Kisan Cart, Swaraj machines, power inter-cultivator, hi-tech paddy harvester, power tillers, and other agriculture tools and machines.MLA K Harishgowda, CESC chairman and MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, Raitha Dasara sub-committee chief Yogesh, and others were present.
