Bengaluru: The state govt, in collaboration with Azim Premji Foundation, launched Deepika Student Scholarship programme.The scholarship provides Rs 30,000 per year to girl students who’ve completed PU from govt colleges and enrolled in any general degree, professional degree or diploma course. It will benefit over 37,000 girl students starting from academic year 2025–26. In case more than 37,000 eligible students enrol, the govt will continue to provide scholarships to all qualified applicants. “The main objective of this scholarship is to radically eliminate financial difficulties faced by our girls in pursuing higher education and to achieve equality by providing them with social justice,” said chief minister Siddaramaiah, inaugurating the event at GKVK campus Friday. “Some parents hesitate to spend on their children’s higher education.
