Karnataka govt may relocate high court to larger campus; DK Shivakumar hints at Race Course area
Govt open to a larger campus for HC in CBD, says dy CM

BENGALURU: Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar Sunday said the state govt is open to exploring land in the heart of the city to relocate Karnataka high court to a larger, modern campus, following appeals from the Chief Justice, other judges and advocates over severe space and infrastructure constraints.Speaking at a ‘Walk With Bengaluru’ event in Cubbon Park, Shivakumar said the heritage building cannot be expanded. “We can’t do anything with the building; rather, it can be converted into a monument. We will consult members of the Bar and see where we can get them land. This is a big problem, and I will sort it out to the best of my ability.”Shivakumar hinted that the Race Course area was among the possible locations. “The lawyers have told me about the Race Course area, but let’s see… legal options for this need to be checked. Our commissioner has also suggested a place; we will think about these options,” he said.
