Hassan: Arasikere MLA KM Shivalinge Gowda, who recently lost his temper during an assembly session, accused BJP MLAs of provoking him. He also said he regretted dragging BJP MLA Sharanu Salagar’s wife into the issue.Briefing reporters, Gowda said he was dissatisfied with the behaviour of BJP legislators and claimed he was provoked into making remarks against RSS and BJP.
He alleged that some BJP MLAs deliberately provoked him inside the House and used abusive language while he was speaking. During the discussion on MNREGA, he said he was heckled at the same time and asked, “What is the reason for such behaviour towards a legislator?”Gowda accused four BJP legislators of constantly targeting him. “This is not just about the recent incident. Whenever I speak, those four legislators make it a habit to provoke me. Why is my name unnecessarily brought up?” he said.He stated he was insulted with words like “thief” and maintained that he reacted only after hearing obscene language. “I did nothing wrong. I am ready to apologise if I made a mistake. But without any fault, I was targeted,” he said.The MLA said he regretted bringing up the name of Salagar’s wife, who is also a Tahsildar. “The people of the Arasikere constituency elected me. What crime did I commit? How many switched parties in Karnataka?” he asked, adding that people should know about the provocation he faced.
