Mangaluru: The Karavali Utsava-2025-26 will take place from Dec 20 to Jan 4, and is being organised by the Dakshina Kannada district administration, zilla panchayat, and local associations, featuring a blend of cultural, sports, and entertainment activities.The festival will be inaugurated on Dec 20 at the Karavali Utsava Maidan with grand cultural programmes in the presence of public representatives, deputy commissioner Darshan HV told reporters on Tuesday.Throughout the festival, various stalls, exhibitions, and an amusement park will be available for the public at the Karavali Utsava Maidan. Coastal art and cultural exhibitions are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday at the venue. On Jan 3 and 4, ‘Musical Night’ events featuring Sandalwood and Bollywood artistes will be held at Panambur, Tannirbavi, and Sasihithlu beaches. Special programmes will continue in Jan and Feb as part of the festival, he explained.From Dec 20, helicopter rides will be available every Saturday and Sunday at Sahyadri College Grounds, and from Jan 9 to 11, Kala Parba, an art festival, will be held on Kadri Park Road. On Jan 26, a fruit and flower exhibition will take place at Kadri Park, a triathlon from Jan 9 to 11 at Tannirbhavi Beach, an international kite festival on Jan 17 and 18, and a beach festival will be held from Jan 23 to 25 at major beaches, the DC said.The festival is planned with a budget of approximately Rs 2.5 crore, expecting a revenue of Rs 30 lakh from stalls, and tenders have been called. A grant of Rs 1.5 crore was requested from the govt, and a donation of Rs 1 crore will be collected in the form of advertisements from local companies, he said.ZP CEO Narwade Vinayak Karbhari, additional deputy commissioner K Raju, DCP Mithun HN, and deputy director of tourism department Dileep Kumar were present.
