Mandya: Mandya district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Friday inaugurated the Flower Show 2026 at the horticulture department premises.Addressing the gathering, the minister said the flower show was thoughtfully curated to highlight the facilities, initiatives, and welfare schemes implemented by various govt departments.He noted that the department of agriculture designed innovative floral artworks with the objective of motivating rural women to take up entrepreneurship and participate actively in income-generating activities. After the inauguration, the minister toured the exhibition, inspected the departmental stalls, and interacted with officials.Among the key attractions were floral replicas of a mechanised paddy transplanter and a special installation honouring women farmers, aimed at encouraging greater female participation in modern and technology-driven agriculture. Another striking display was a floral sculpture depicting a mother breastfeeding her child, created to raise public awareness about the importance of mother’s milk and maternal health.The exhibition also featured creative contributions from several departments. The sericulture department put up a silkworm-themed floral artwork, while the khadi and village industries department, along with other blocks, showcased Mandya district’s tourist destinations across various taluks through imaginative floral arrangements.Jointly organised by the Mandya district administration, zilla panchayat, and department of agriculture, this year’s exhibition was larger and more vibrant than previous editions, featuring more than 2 lakh flowers arranged in creative and thematic displays, officials said.State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority vice-chairman Dinesh Gooligowda, deputy commissioner Kumara, zilla panchayat CEO KR Nandini, district superintendent of police Shobharani VJ, and Muda chairman BP Prakash were also present.
