Hubballi: MLC and chief whip Saleem Ahmed on Sunday visited those injured in the Inam Veerapur honour killing incident at a private hospital here.Speaking to reporters, Ahmed said it was unfortunate that even a child was attacked in the incident. “According to the information available, eight persons have been arrested so far. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has been briefed about the case. This incident is a big blot on society. The caste system must vanish, and awareness needs to be created against it. Necessary steps should be taken to ensure such incidents do not recur,” he said.Responding to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s Bengaluru demolition remarks, Ahmed said the statements were politically motivated with elections approaching. “He is talking about bulldozers and house clearances in Bengaluru. The area that was cleared is a dumping yard, not a place meant for human habitation. The govt has deputed ministers to clear the area and make alternative arrangements. People have constructed houses there and are involved in illegal activities. From a humanitarian point of view, we will extend all necessary cooperation,” he added.
