Bengaluru: The high court Thursday will hear Prajwal Revanna’s criminal appeal on Oct 28. The former JD-S MP from Hassan had moved HC challenging his conviction and sentencing by a special court in Bengaluru.A division bench of Justices KS Mudagal and Venkatesh Naik T directed the govt to specify whether the special investigation team (SIT) will be represented by a special counsel in the high court, as was the case before the special court. On Aug 2, the special court imposed a life sentence on Prajwal for repeatedly raping his domestic help in Holenarasipur, Hassan, and Banashankari in Bengaluru, and also recording videos of the act between Jan 1, 2021, and Jan 31, 2022.In his appeal, Prajwal cited several contradictions between the survivor’s complaint and testimony. According to him, police forced her to file the complaint. He further disputed the reliability of certain evidence, such as stains reportedly found on a bed years later. He requested the high court to set aside his conviction on grounds that the prosecution case is full of inconsistencies and procedural lapses.
