Haveri: Haveri University was established during Basavaraj Bommai‘s tenure as chief minister. We inaugurated the computer department at the university, clarified Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.Speaking to reporters on Sunday after inaugurating the computer department at Haveri University in Kerimattihalli, along with former chief minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai, he further said the university is well equipped with a vast environment and infrastructure, providing excellent services to students. “It supports the education of underprivileged and poor children in the region and reduces the need for rural children to travel to cities for higher education,” he added.Former chief minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai said that Haveri University is functioning without any grants from the state govt. Despite very limited infrastructure, it is awarding degrees to a large number of students. Examinations are conducted, and results are declared within 15 days. In the coming days, it will emerge as a model university. “The state govt at least creates minimum required posts and makes appointments at Haveri University; it would be easier to secure grants from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the future,” he noted.
