No matter how educated or wealthy a person was, if they were not in good health, it was of no use. Therefore, maintaining good health was essential. Deputy commissioner Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar, who hoisted the sports flag, said sports helped maintain physical and mental health, and it was necessary to maintain health amid daily work. Sports meets brought new energy and enthusiasm, and leave facilities were provided for employees to participate. DC Danammanavar said acting in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution and ensuring proper implementation of govt schemes was the responsibility of govt officials and employees. He said they must also maintain law and order and work on the frontlines in emergencies such as natural disasters. “In many instances, such as crop damage and crop insurance registration, they worked more than 8 hours a day to achieve targets within deadlines,” he said.He said there was improvement in last year’s SSLC and PUC exam results, and in the SSLC annual exam, govt schools performed better than private schools. ZP Chief Executive Officer Ruchi Bindal and SP Yashodha Vantagodi received the sports torch. Assistant Director of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Latha BH, and others were present on the occasion.The President of the Haveri District Branch of the Karnataka State Govt Employees’ Association, Mallesh Karigar, welcomed the gathering and gave the introductory speech.
