Govt hospital launches Swasth Nari Campaign

Mangaluru: Govt Lady Goschen Hospital medical superintendent Dr Durgaprasad MR inaugurated the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar (Healthy Women, Empowered Family) campaign at the Govt Lady Goschen Hospital on Wednesday. In his inaugural speech, he emphasised that healthy women strengthen prosperous communities and should actively engage in implementing national health programmes.Under the Healthy Woman, Empowered Family campaign, the Lady Goschen Hospital is providing women with cancer screenings, including breast and cervical cancer check-ups, along with blood pressure and diabetes tests, utilising advanced and well-equipped facilities. The campaign includes identifying high-risk pregnant women and offering specialised prenatal care, nutritional camps, and a tracking system for the treatment of pregnant and postpartum women, along with personalised consultations. Special emphasis is placed on critical care for women in life-threatening conditions, he said.District health education officer Jyothi K Ulepadi said that under the campaign, all systems related to maternal and child health are being efficiently managed and supervised to provide excellent healthcare services. Pregnant and postpartum women from the district and neighbouring areas are benefiting from these services. The campaign aims to ensure the success of the programme by providing comprehensive health screenings, treatments, and educational information to all women, she said.Programme in DK till Oct 2The district health and family welfare department, District Mental Health Programme, Wenlock District Hospital, and the department of women and child development jointly organised the Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign at the RAPCC auditorium of the Wenlock District Hospital. DHO Dr HR Thimmaiah said that the programme will run from Sept 17 to Oct 2 across the Dakshina Kannada district, alongside various health check-up camps. He urged everyone to join hands to make the campaign successful by organising special activities to provide more services to the public.As part of the campaign, awareness was raised about the importance of mental health programmes, organ donation, and both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
