Gold futures moved close to Rs 1.8 lakh per 10 grams, as investors rushed to the safe-haven asset amid ongoing geopolitical developments pushed precious metals high. The move has been further supported by a weaker dollar, driven by market speculation that Trump is comfortable with a softer greenback. Gold and silver extended their strong gains on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty. MCX gold contracts expiring on February 5, 2026 rose nearly 6%, gaining Rs 9,954 to trade at Rs 1,75,869 per 10 grams.
