Pic: RPF personnel with the seized ganja pouchesHubballi: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized around 11 kgs of ganja valued at approximately Rs 11 lakh at Hubballi railway station on Saturday. According to a press release by South Western Railway, the seizure occurred during a routine contraband check on the station platform. Around 11am, RPF personnel spotted an unclaimed bag lying unattended. On inspection, the bag was found to contain 10 packages wrapped in brown adhesive tape, suspected to be ganja. Following proper legal procedures, the seized packages, weighing approximately 11 kg, were handed over to the inspector of excise, DC Squad, Dharwad, for further action. Subsequently, after completing all formalities, the inspector of excise registered a case under sections 20(b), 20(b)(ii)(B), 25, and 8(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the release said. RPF sub-inspector Abhishek Reddy, assistant SI MG Nayak, head constables ML Gopal, SS Kakani, and HM Chavan, Dog Squad featuring sniffer ‘Alex’, and constables CV Bangari and SM Rafi seized the ganja.
