Chikkamagaluru: Forest department officials have commenced an investigation into the death of three blackbucks in Kadur taluk.The animals were found dead with bullet injuries near Kallenahalli in Kadur taluk on Tuesday. The animals died in agricultural land attached to Basur Amrit Mahal. “We believe that locals were not involved in such activities owing to religious beliefs,” said deputy conservator of forests Ramesh Babu. The accused killed the animals for meat and not to protect crops. The farmers in the region never took such a hasty decision, the officer said.A team led by the assistant conservator of forests is conducting an investigation. A dog squad and police officials visited the spot on Wednesday. “We will crack the case soon,” said the DFO.
