Forest department shifts 3 tiger cubs to rescue centre

Mysuru: The forest department decided to shift three tiger cubs, which were deserted by their mother on Punajanuru-Bedaguli road inside BRT Tiger Reserve on Oct 13, to Shree Chamundeshwari Wild Animals Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in the city.The facility, located on the city outskirts in Koorgalli, is attached to the Mysuru zoo. The cubs are believed to be a month old.“All the three cubs are healthy,” explained BRT Tiger Reserve director BS Shripati.According to authorities, these cubs were sighted on Oct 13, and the department officials and staff have worked towards uniting them with their mother. They carried out a combing operation to determine whether the tigress was prowling in the area. However, the mother tigress was not sighted in the camera traps and didn’t come to take away the cubs, the forest department officials stated.
