Mandya: More than 2,000 people are expected to participate in the upcoming food safety and national consumer day celebrations, which will be held on Jan 9, at Ambedkar Bhavan, said H Krishna, the chairman of the state food commission. The event, originally slated for Dec 24, was postponed to Jan 9.Speaking at a preparatory meeting with officials at the Mandya guest house, the chairman stated that the primary objective of the programme is to raise awareness about the value and importance of food. The event is being organised through collaboration of 14 different departments, and 14 stalls will be set up to educate the public on food safety. Chairman Krishna emphasised that success can only be achieved through collective efforts, and urged Mandya officials to work efficiently to make this a model event for other districts.
