Belagavi: District in-charge minister Satish Jarkiholi said the proposed flyover project in the city would be implemented only after obtaining feedback from the public and various organisations. A separate meeting has been scheduled for Jan 6 to gather suggestions and address concerns from stakeholders before finalising the project’s alignment and execution plan.Speaking to mediapersons after a review meeting with officials on Tuesday evening, Jarkiholi emphasised that public consultation was essential for a project of this scale, as it would have a direct impact on daily commuters, traders, institutions and residents along the proposed route. He noted that while the project has already received cabinet approval, it would be executed in three phases.According to the proposed plan, the first phase will cover the stretch from the national highway near Sankam Hotel to Rani Channamma Circle. The second phase will extend from Rani Channamma Circle to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk, while the third phase will further extend up to the Third Railway Gate.Jarkiholi said officials had been instructed to adopt a phased approach to better manage traffic, address technical challenges at major junctions and ensure smooth execution. He also reiterated that tenders would be floated only after the alignment and design were finalised, to avoid changes or disputes once construction begins.Meanwhile, the minister highlighted the urgent need for a new garbage dumping yard in Belagavi. Pointing out that the Turmuri waste depot was already overburdened, he said officials had been directed to identify land for two new waste depots, one in Belagavi North and another in Belagavi South, to tackle future waste management challenges.MLA Asif Sait, deputy commissioner Mohammad Roshan, superintendent of police Bhimashankar Guled, ZP CEO Rahul Shinde, and city police commissioner Bhushan Borse were present at the meeting.
