Mangaluru: A total of five persons were selected for Rachana Awards 2023-25. Rachana, an organisation formed by Catholic businessmen, agriculturists, and professionals, shared the recipients of the Rachana Awards for the year on Friday.Addressing the reporters, John B Monterio, president of Rachana, Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told reporters that this recognition of excellence since 1998 is aimed at inspiring the youth towards entrepreneurship and professional success.Those selected for the award are: Austin Roach, Bengaluru (entrepreneur); John Richard Lobo (professional); Godwin Rodrigues, Belvai (agriculturist); Pratap Mendonca (NRI entrepreneur); and the Outstanding Women Award to Shobha Mendonca.Awardee Austin Roach is being honoured for his innovative contributions to the business landscape. His leadership and strategic foresight not only propelled his ventures to new heights, but also set a benchmark for aspiring entrepreneurs.Former MLA of Mangaluru South, John Richard Lobo, member, Karnataka Administrative Service, was recognised for his service and dedication to public administration. His integrity in governance made a significant impact in Mangaluru and beyond, a release stated.Psychologist, educator, and innovator Godwin Rodrigues, a pioneering agriculturist from Belvai, Moodbidri, was awarded for his groundbreaking research and sustainable farming practices. His work in advancing agricultural techniques greatly benefited the farming community and contributed to food security.Pratap Mendonca, based in Dubai, was celebrated for his entrepreneurial success on the international stage. His ventures not only thrived in the competitive global market but also strengthened ties between India and the UAE.Shobha Mendonca is being recognised for her outstanding achievements and contributions to society. Her leadership and philanthropic efforts empowered countless women and inspired future generations.The award ceremony is scheduled for Oct 5. The event will be graced by Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore.
