Mysuru’s Dasara preparations are in full swing with the traditional elephant training sessions underway. On Monday, Abhimanyu, the lead elephant who will carry the golden howdah during the Jumbo Savari, was trained with a wooden one. A mattress and blanket was placed on Abhimanyu’s back before tying the wooden howdah securely. He walked with grace, impressing onlookers. Cannon firing drills were also conducted to prepare the elephants for the traditional 21-gun salute on Vijayadashami.
