NEW DELHI: A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Kalaburagi district on Thursday, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC). In a press release, KSNDMC stated that based on the Seismic Intensity Map, the tremor could be felt within a radius of 20–25 km from the epicentre, which was situated 0.5 km southeast of Jawalga Village in Aloor, Aland taluk. The release further mentioned that this level of earthquake is unlikely to cause any damage to the local population, as the intensity is low, although minor vibrations may be experienced in nearby areas. The epicentre falls under Seismic Zone III, and according to the tectonic map, there are no structural discontinuities in the region.
