Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara Monday carried out a surprise inspection of the Indira Canteen in KR Pete to assess service quality and ensure compliance with govt guidelines.He examined the canteen’s operations with emphasis on cleanliness, hygiene, and adherence to food safety standards. He reviewed the quality and quantity of meals and the food distribution system to verify that beneficiaries were receiving nutritious and adequate food as prescribed under the scheme.
He also inspected the kitchen, storage facilities, and dining area to ensure food was prepared and served under hygienic conditions. He checked the implementation of safety norms, handling of ingredients, and overall maintenance of cleanliness.Kumara reviewed staff attendance, discipline, and performance, directing officials to ensure employees remained punctual and discharged their duties responsibly. He also interacted with citizens to gather feedback on the quality, taste, and timeliness of the meals.Following the inspection, the DC issued firm directions to officials and staff to maintain consistent standards of food quality and hygiene. Stressing that Indira Canteens serve as a vital support system for economically weaker sections, he warned that any lapses or deviations from govt guidelines would invite strict action.
